Hi, and welcome to Heart to Heart Sales, the Podcast.
I am Becky Cowell, and this podcast is for heart-led business owners who want to sell more of what they do whilst feeling great about it, because we all know those uncomfortable squirmy feelings in our tummy or in our toes!
I'm here to show you that Sales is just another business skill and can always be done in complete authenticity, and you can embrace every part of the sales process. So, I am Becky Colwell, this is heart to heart sales, the podcast, and today we are talking about alignment.
Alignment is the first of the three pillars that underpin Heart to Heart Sales™.
Let’s consider what do we want for our businesses? When we think about our future goals and our ‘Big Hairy-Ass Goals’ for 3 or 4 or 10 years time for our businesses. Sometimes those great big goals aren't actually in alignment with how we want work and what we want for ourselves. Let’s think about time, or even effort, what are we willing to put into our businesses today? Many of us are doing this because we no longer want the 40-50 hour gravy train, or we're doing this on the side and we're doing so many other things with our time as well. So we've really got to consider what can we do now? What can we commit to what feels great in our businesses today?
And sometimes that might be putting more work or time in now so that you can put less in later.
It's not about effort, it’s not about the amount of thought we put into our business, but sometimes building a business is a slog (and that's something, by the way, that's just not shared often enough is that building a business can be a bit of a slog sometimes, and you're working in your business so much learning all the things and it can feel quite a juggling act).
The reason why I'm talking about this is because if you are not in alignment with taking on clients, and the work that having another client brings, then you’re not aligned when you have sales conversations with your clients, and you’re unlikely to attract the yes. We really need to really know that we want this person in our lives, in our business, and we want all of that commitment into our business.
If that feels right to you, then it's so much easier to figure whether that client is in alignment with what you’ve got to offer, are they the right client for you? Can you help them with what you have to offer, is the client wanting this? When your what your client wants is in alignment with what you want for your clients, then, all of a sudden, the burden of asking for money, asking for the sale, is removed. Knowing that it’s a fair exchange, knowing that what you've got to offer and what they want are the same thing, at that point, asking for money can be done with ease.
Now I'm not saying it's easy! - because we all know that it still feels a little bit uncomfortable, even for me, but I am sure now that what I offer my clients is what they want and what they need, and its so much easier for me to stand in the grace of asking for money, because it's a fair exchange.
I have a business they're growing their business. They want what I can help them with. This helps when I’m asking for money, (sometimes I still need to breathe in and remind myself “I am helping. I am helping”), once you know that you are truly helping them, cause that's in the end, what we want do I think part led business owners, we want to help people and it still needs to be a fair exchange for our time and our effort and our knowledge and that perfect combination of what we do, how we do it, who we are when, who, what, how all of those things.
Really, it's a perfect combination of our vibration, our knowledge, our experience that really helps our clients get to where they want to get to.
So, just have a think about where you are in alignment and where you're not quite there. And start balancing that as we come into this holiday season, and, for example, I know I'm unable to commit quite as much time to my business over the next two months. That helps me with my goal setting, with my short term goal setting, with my task setting. And with the alignment of the type of clients that I want to attract right now and how many and how I'll be working with them. And all of those things work for me because I'm conscious of being aligned with what I want for my business, which ultimately by the way, is being aligned with what I want for myself, my values and my needs.
When I consider that if somebody asked me eight years ago, like what my values were, I couldn't have told them, uh, it's been a really rapid transformation for me into being where I'm at now. And I love the, that I can sit into. Yes. One of these things is being helpful. One of these values is being helpful. That's doing that in a way that is aligned with what I want business.
Alignment is key. Please have a think about how you can more aligned in your business and therefore the way you, your clients into your business.
